Ms. Bharati Balaji brings with her nearly 25 years of rich professional experience as a corporate lawyer
and General Counsel, with deep expertise at the intersection of law, policy, and industry advocacy.
Her distinguished career includes legal practice before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, followed by
over 13 years of leadership at the Indian Sugar & Bio-Energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA), where she
spearheaded legal, compliance, and regulatory strategy for one of India’s most influential industry bodies.
During her tenure at ISMA, she played a central role in the Association’s administration, policy coordination,
and strategic initiatives, working closely with government institutions and industry stakeholders to shape
progressive regulatory frameworks and institutional partnerships.
In her current role at AIDA, Ms. Balaji is deeply engaged in the day-to-day functioning of the Association,
supporting the Managing Committee and strengthening engagement with member distilleries, government authorities,
and allied stakeholders. She actively contributes to AIDA’s policy advocacy, industry coordination, and
institutional strengthening — particularly in areas relating to ethanol blending, bioenergy development,
regulatory alignment, and capacity building.
With her strong institutional understanding and extensive policy experience, she continues to advance AIDA’s
mandate of fostering a sustainable, competitive, and growth-oriented distillery and ethanol ecosystem in India.
